Associate Position

Pine Bush Equine Services and Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time equine ambulatory practitioner for a well-established, privately owned equine hospital.  We are located in beautiful rural horse country but are less than 80 miles from exciting midtown Manhattan.  Applicant must be motivated, and have an excellent customer service mentality and good communication skills. We seek an individual with a forward-thinking and positive attitude that can function well as a part of our close-knit team. Our facility offers complete support staff, surgical suite, 13 stall barn with climate controlled evaluation areas and state of the art equipment including multiple digital radiography units, dynamic endoscopy, ultrasonography, video endoscopy, laser therapy, in house laboratory equipment and up-to-date sports medicine and regenerative therapies. We are a progressive practice with opportunities for future growth for the right candidate. Mentoring opportunities are available as there are two experienced board certified equine surgeons at the practice.  In addition, there are 3 other experienced ambulatory veterinarians.  We have an established internship program with 2 interns this year.  

Although there is a complete, well -appointed and staffed hospital, the practice is primarily an ambulatory practice. .  Reproductive work is a prominent part of the practice. In addition to this there is a strong sports medicine case load.  Ground breaking on a nuclear medicine program will begin this summer.  We offer multiple regenerative therapies including IRAP, PRP and ProStride.  Other therapeutics include shockwave and laser therapy.

Forty percent of our caseload is Standardbreds, both racehorses in training and breeding stock. Additionally, we see a wide variety of sport horses including hunter/jumper, dressage, and Western performance horses.  Cases regularly involve all age groups, from foals to geriatrics. Clients are varied and include pet horse farms as well as large show horse barns, western performance barns, commercial breeding farms, local resorts and racetrack work. Pine Bush Equine Services serves as the primary veterinarians for the USDA New York Animal Import Center (one of only three import centers in the United States).

Pine Bush Equine Services schedules appointments Monday-Friday.  We provide 24-hour emergency coverage for our clients however all night-time emergency surgery is referred to a local surgical center.  On call duty for our full-time practitioners is generally limited to 5 days a month. This may increase slightly in July and August when the interns are new to the practice.

 We offer a starting salary commensurate with experience with incentives based on production.  Benefit packages include, medical, vision and dental, paid vacation, continuing education expenses, retirement benefits through an IRA with a contribution matching program, payment of dues for membership in the AVMA and AAEP, Professional Liability Insurance through the AVMA, licensing fees, and a pet care discount.
