Dr. Lucia Aznar Léon de la Barra is the Managing DVM and Medical Director at Pine Bush Equine Services and Animal Hospital. Originally from Mexico City, she earned her veterinary degree from the prestigious Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and brings over a decade of hands-on experience in equine medicine.

Dr. Aznar has practiced veterinary medicine across the globe—including Mexico, the U.S., Brazil, South Africa, and Kenya—working with everything from horses and companion animals to wildlife and exotic species. Her clinical interests include equine surgery, reproduction, and preventive care, and she is devoted to delivering compassionate, individualized treatment to every patient.

As Managing DVM, Dr. Aznar leads our medical team with a focus on excellence in care, mentorship, and collaboration. When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find her exploring the outdoors or spending time with her own animals.
